Girl With a Pearl Earring Self Portrait

      For my picture I chose to do a more artsy take on The Girl With a Pearl Earring portrait by Vermeer. The bow in my hair represents fashion. I have always enjoyed fashion and had an eye for it. I also hope to go into the fashion business for my career. My bold makeup represents my personality to become. It represents confidence and being bold. Although I would like to become more bold as I grow.

      The quote at the bottom of my picture represents somewhat of what I would like to transform into by saying things such as, "...look for the good in others...speak only words of kindness...". My identity right now would be a dedicated dancer, foodie, independent, strong minded, and creative. I hope to push further with these traits throughout my lifetime by trying my hardest and being able to accept myself at any moment. I've always been very hard on myself with everything that life brings. I tell myself that I want to be that perfect dancer on stage or get perfect grades but we look for perfection not even knowing what it is. In Girl With A Pearl Earring Griet was in a similar situation. She states, "I wanted to wear the mantle and the pearls. I wanted to know the man who painted her like that." (Chevalier 38). This quote represents that Griet also looks up to people/things and sets goals for herself.

      Another goal I have is to put things into differnt perspectives and to become more open-minded. In Girl With A Pearl Earring Griet says, “He saw things in a way that others did not, so that a city I had lived in all my life seemed a different place, so that a woman became beautiful with the light on her face.” (Chevalier). I like this quote because it's a good representation of putting things into different perspectives and paying attention to your surroundings.
